Antique Merry-Go-Round Hat

The piece consists of a sturdy silk cap tied under the chin with long ribbons, from which rises a fully realized miniature merry-go-round. Complete with a tent-shaped roof, delicately painted horses, and decorative trimmings, the carousel can rotate on its own axis—moving both with the swing of the head and with a gentle touch.

Every detail is handmade: the pastel-painted horses gallop around the brim, the fabric canopy recalls a festive circus tent, and the gilt decoration transforms the hat into a wearable fantasy. Despite its fragility, the hat has been beautifully preserved, and the carousel still turns today.
